i do have some other redecorating pics to share... but today my brain is elsewhere.  on this guy:

one day this week, ben's k4 class is taking a tour of his school's kindergarten classes.  they call it leap day.  they are spending the whole day (minus nap time, i'm sure) attending the "big kid" school, eating lunch with the "big kid" kindergartners, and taking time to note the differences in his current school and the "big kid" school.  *side note: for kindergarten, ben won't be attending this particular school for several reasons which would be an ENTIRELY other blog...trust me.  (p.s. not bad reasons, just reasons.)

ANYHOW, did i mention the reason ben's class is doing this little tour???  that's right, boys and girls.  my sweet little baby ben will be in KINDERGARTEN.  THIS YEAR.  this august.  2011.  7 months from now.  hello?  is that TOTALLY INSANE to anyone besides me???

i cannot believe his school career is starting this year.  i am so super excited and scared for him, all at the same time.  before ben was even born, i have always had this sense that he is going to be a leader.  that he will have favor to influence his peers in positive ways.  this is GREAT, but totally scary too.  and it all starts this year.  (okay, well... he's been in preschool since he was 2, so technically it has already started, but this is just way more official and big time.)

it's crazy that my babies aren't really babies anymore.  graham is considered a toddler and ben is almost done being a preschooler and totally about to be a student in school.  now...the kicker of all this reality sinking in is this:  the school sent shirts home with the k4 students to wear on their "big kid" day this week.  take a gander at what the back of the shirt says.  tears came to my eyes when i saw it...and i think i may have even thrown up a little.

YIKES!  2024 just sounds all too soon.  it's only 13 years away.  13 years ago i was just a freshman in high school.  that was like YESTERDAY!  man.  i better start looking for my prom dress.  he is totally taking his mom to prom, you know.

okok, just kidding.  :)  but his date better be as awesome as both of mine were.  (side note #2: both my adventures to prom were with this stud... ----->)
