movin on up...to the king size! (new decor, part 2)

so, i had big plans for our bedroom when we moved here.  i wanted something bright and inviting.  we painted the moss green room a beautiful shade of "legend tan."  i then purchased some red and orange bedding from pottery barn.  at the time, i loved it.  but then....i began to loathe it.  it was SO bright.  and the curtains we had up were so white that they almost glowed blue at night.  when it started to affect my sleeping patterns, i knew it was time for a change.

about that time, my dad offered to give us his king size bed because he was obtaining a california king and his previous mattress set wouldn't fit.  so, of course, we were thrilled!  we had toyed with the idea of getting a king because with two boys and a dog, we need all the room we can get for mornings of snuggling with our crew.  and so, this gave me ample reason to ditch the brightness and go for something much more cozy and sweet.  amazingly enough...even after putting a bigger bed in the room, our room appears to be so much bigger.  i know it's because we no longer have a head or foot board.  but i am lovin' it.  i am on the lookout for a new chest of drawers but i'm not sure what i'm looking for exactly...i just know that i'll know it when i see it.  :)  stay tuned for that.  here's a quick before picture of just the bedding and a detailed after photo session of the whole room.

we haven't decided if we are going to hang that picture that's sitting on the floor by the closet...
